I ain’t getting easier but I’m shrinking!

Well I passed the two week mark and feel pretty darn good!  Lots of water, green veggies, yummy steaks and lovely eggs ( I love brown eggs more and more lately)  I am also craving spicier and spicier food so lots of jalepenos on burger patties with some cheddar cheese mmmmm.  I will try to post again before the new year but aside from some red wine, a little champagne and perhaps a few light carbs I will be sticking to low carb in the beginning and throughout 2011.  G-D Bless and please email me anytime – I love to correspond

Happy Holidays!

Hey everyone! I wanted to just drop a note to let you guys know I’m still in induction and the clothes are fitting better, energy is up and I am drinking tons of water which i feel is the key to this woe. I am on the lirr heading home from work and geez, I know they say the paper business is dying but wow are we busy in my NYC office. i found an Asian place that makes super clean foods and will make things for me to order which I love 🙂 today was green peppers, steak, onions and broccoli stirfried and some hot mustard and soy sauce yum and only $6! and that’s in midtown!
anyway, Sunday we are going to my sister inlaws house and she is getting a sushi platter for us but I’ll pick out the fish and try my best to get through the meal lol. my wife is with me this time during induction and wow, she is doing really wonderfully! we may stray for new years but only for 12 hours and not overindulging, just indulging 🙂 its like a mental clearing but we NEED to get right back on that horse so please yell at me if i stray lol
on a different topic, anyone try p90x? my brother in law is swearing by it it said it’s tough, I’m going to do the 90 days beginning the second Saturday of 2011, let me know what think. well my stop is coming up and it’s almost 11pm, the wife hates my late nights as do I. 🙁 but it’s money right? I really miss my son Ramiel when I work late too but I’ll have a nice three day weekend to have a blast with him, cant believe he is two a half already. eeks 🙂

The weirdness is beginning!

I say weirdness but it’s the craving for things I don’t even like.  I like this part of induction – when your body switches over from a sugar laden starch munching machine to a carbohydrate hating machine while burning away inches and pounds.

I was starving tonight so I made by dear wife and I a messy beefy concoction – ground beef browned, onion powder, some garlic, handful of celery, green bell ‘peppas’ and some organic Hunts tomato sauce (lowest in carbs and no added nuthin’) and just let is simmer for like 30 minutes, topped with some shredded cheddar, some jalapenos (for me) and a small dollop of sour cream.  Needless to say we were STUFFED and the craving went away – it was a touch salty but I need some more water tonight anyway – I’ll try to post some pics of my food in the future.

Another new beginning? oy vey!

The other day I posted an entry about eating clean and restarting a healthy way of eating.  That afternoon I made a yummy salad, ate some roast chicken and afterward followed up with some Lentils and brown rice and then it hit me.  I had introduced foods into my diet that either

1 – I’m not ready for
2 – I eat too much of
3 – I convinced myself I could lose weight eating it
4 – I shouldn’t be eating at all!

Since my son was born in June of 2008 I became a lazy eater and cook.  I eat what I want and when I want and if my son won’t finish his dessert, what the heck, I’ll finish it even though I shouldn’t even have had mine (not at this weight anyway).  So yes,  I blame my son!

Just kidding!

But in all seriousness I just ate what I wanted and just seemed to stop paying attention since hey, there were diapers to change, bottles to make, money to make, etc etc etc and I just lost the focus I had when I was so successful in Low Carb year ago.  I stopped doing my LowCarbShow podcast, I convinced myself I needed to eat rice, beans and other legumes mostly instead of a nice balance of protein, fat and light on the carbs that worked (and will work again!) so well with me. I just gained and gained and I just feel low on energy and with a 2 and a half year old I need energy!

My wife, who is also guilty of eating what she wants is coming with me on this journey while we begin a 14 day induction today.  I will post my progress and new adventures and hopefully I will record a new podcast this week. I moved a couple months ago and am still in limbo but I just need a few hours to reconnect my mic, etc

Water

It is amazing how little water I was consuming!  I guess I felt the coffee, diet soda and etc etc made up for it!  Well, it doesn’t and don’t fool yourself!  You need to get in about 64 oz. of Water a day and then just keep drinking until you feel hydrated.  It’s amazing how positive one feels when water is coursing through their cells instead of all the other junk!
